I recently had a chance to talk about my exciting work with the big cats at the Panther Ridge Conservatory Center. Species Link, The Journal Of Interspecies Telepathic Communications, provides a forum for Animal Comunications practices, practitioners and more. Animal Communicator and Reiki Master, Kumari, first came to Panther Ridge on a tour with her family about a year ago. Her sister is an equine vet and knew about the pristine sanctuary that is little known, even amongst its neighbors. On their visit, Kumari stopped and sat in front of CJ’s cage for about an hour. CJ is a mountain lion who was resting in his igloo at the back of his cage. As Kumari sat, she began to receive imagery from him as CJ streamed information to her about ancient Egypt and a time when cats and humans walked safely in peace with each other.

Animal Communication Workshops: Improving Empathy With All Creatures

ORLANDO, Fla. – Zeus, a thoroughbred-quarter horse cross, gallops around the pasture with relative ease. He even stops and happily rolls around in the dirt. But just a few hours earlier, he was clearly walking in pain, the result of numerous physical problems and lameness in both rear legs. But after Kumari Mullin and a group of students in her animal communication class worked with Zeus, the positive change in his behavior was evident.

“He had several emotional releases, which led to physical releases,” Mullin said.

Mullin is an animal communicator and Reiki master. On this day, she’s teaching a class through the Centers for Animal Therapies, based in Longwood, Florida. Mullin shows others how to connect with their animals to gain a better understanding of what their pets are thinking.
“Our pets are completely impacted by our ups and downs,” Mullin said. “They’re impacted by the same stressors we are.”

Zeus was the test subject for the group, and the session began with a process Mullin calls grounding.

“Just like electrical appliances, we need to be grounded to be balanced,” Mullin said. “When we are stressed, which most of us are, our mind-body is very noisy and creates static – so most animals are responding to that even though we’re not aware of it.”
Mullin asked students to turn off their brain chatter and focus on Zeus.

“The main thing that’s required in animal communication is quiet,” Mullin reflected. “There’s a tuning in that happens on all levels.”
As Mullin guided them through the class, several students said they could sense or feel what Zeus was thinking.

With no prior knowledge, the group sensed that Zeus was dejected and feeling like a failure. His handlers confirmed that the horse had participated in a police training demonstration and, upon his return, started having physical and emotional problems. According to Mullin, Zeus communicated that he interpreted his return to the stable as an indication that he failed the demonstration, which was not the case.

“One of the keys is to open the doors and respect them,” Mullin said. “They might have something to offer us, something to teach us. In that way we let go of the judgment and all kinds of connections can begin to be made.”

After a few hours with the group, Zeus was walking straighter and eventually galloping.

At the end of the day, student Keri Boch reflected on the lesson she took away from the class – the knowledge that her energy could impact her dog, Bailey.

“My anxiety is a mirror on her and her anxiety is a mirror on me, so I have learned to ground myself and not project my emotions,” Boch said.
Mullin says the concept of animal communication is not far-fetched at all.

“It’s an innate ability to have these extended senses,” Mullin said. “We just haven’t practiced.”
The Centers for Animal Therapies offers many related classes, and founder Jo Maldonado remarks that even skeptical dog trainers have walked away with newfound skills.

“They all — every single one of them — are coming out of the workshops saying, ‘Wow, I think I’m going to take some more classes. I want to learn what else there is about this because it works.’”

And Kumari Mullin says that’s the ultimate goal of animal communication.

“Every time I teach students to do this, there’s greater harmony and understanding among the species,” she said. “It has a ripple effect that is limitless.”

Most of the sages past and present, teach that there is nothing that we really need, that we are whole, connected beings of great beauty, strength and light, but it is the covering over of this reality with identification with the ego-mind which tells us we are separate from All That Is, and so the denser energies of doubt, fear, isolation and not good enough shroud our bigness and our light.

Additionally, many of the modern day prophets and wisdom-holders tell us that we are in amazing transformational times, with portals to new and higher dimensions opening up at ever increasing rates. However, we can’t access these higher dimensions with all of our extra baggage.   (Now we get charged for it, but on that trip we won’t get on the plane!)

So right and left I am witnessing everyone, myself included, being supported, and yes, sometimes forced into letting go of “stuff”.  It could be in the form of old ideas, relationships that are dragging us down, work that is not fulfilling, or even homes that no longer fit our lifestyle.  It is sometimes quite painful to make these shifts.  Our “stuff” has become a familiar old friend.

One question that can cut through a LOT of work, is this:
Whose stuff is it? Whose thought, or feeling, or concept, are we struggling with?  Is it even ours??   Or more intentionally, “I release any energies that are not mine, or are not for my highest good.  I only work with energies that are for my highest good.”

I have used this countless times in my healing sessions to find that it always leaves the client, and myself feeling lighter.  Sometimes it is as if a layer of saran wrap literally peels away from my whole body.  We are working so hard on our “Stuff” —and often it isn’t even “ours”.  What do I mean by this? It might be clearer if I let my client “Cheri”explain:
For years I struggled with many emotional issues which caused me to seek counseling. I can honestly say that I was and remain in “awe” from just one session with you for it was then you taught me about harboring other people’s energies. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the “stuff” I juggled for years wasn’t even mine!! You enabled me to gain a new perspective on my life and peel away so many layers that even my therapist agreed that counseling was no longer necessary.

I am able to re- establish my power by beginning everyday with the intention to release any energies that are not mine and are not for my highest good. Thus the decisions I make now are without interference from “others” and better yet, without formal counseling which I wholeheartedly believe would not have been possible without your guidance.

Having the ability to identify the source of an emotion and then accept or reject it has made all the difference in maintaining my highest good. I truly am a new person without the weight of someone else’s world on my shoulders!

Thank you for all you do and thanks for saving me years of money spent in counseling!!

In sum, we often think we have a host of behaviors, reactions and thought patterns that are causing havoc in our lives, and we have clearly identified them and are working on them diligently.  The problem is, they are not even our thoughts.  They originated with a parent, teacher, or elder.  We gave over our power to these adults thoughts, feelings etc. because after all, we were only little humans at the time.  We didn’t know any better.  If an adult told us we were stupid, we tended to believe them.

But it didn’t even need to be spoken.  We absorbed the vibrations all around us: anger, hopelessness, worry, I’m not ok, etc. and began to assume that if we felt it or thought it, it must be true…it must be who we are.

So many times lately I catch myself having a reaction to something, or find myself irritated.  When I examine the underlying thought or feeling, I can trace it back to my parents and I realize I actually don’t feel irritated by that person’s behavior, that it was my mother’s issue.  And voila, it becomes much easier to drop it.  But you don’t need to know anything about an issue to let go of other people’s energies.  You can just intend to let go. Try this simple release teachnique:

• Sit quietly, feet on the floor and take a few deep breaths.
• Call all parts of yourself back from wherever your attention was.
• Be present and bring your focus to the center of your head.
• Now add the intention to let go of anything, any energy, that is not yours.
• You can repeat the above intention: “I release any energies that are not mine, or are not for my highest good. I only work with energies that are for my highest good.”
• Check in with yourself and your body and notice any changes.
• Repeat daily or whenever you feel you want to “lighten up.”

Animal Communication Workshop Raises Funds for Wild Horse Rescue

Mims, FL April 15, 2009— Wild horses have been subjected to man’s cruelties for centuries and the long term effects have been devastating.  Without help, these beautiful earthly matriarchs are headed for extinction. They are magical, forgiving and very curious spirits that will enchant and challenge you, changing your life forever.

Animal communicator Kumari Mullin is offering a rare opportunity to interact with wild mustangs as our teachers, to learn the keys to deeper connection and telepathic communion with animals in a two-day Animal Communication Workshop on April 25 and 26, 2009.  A portion of the fee will go to the Wild Horse Rescue Center in Mims, FL (www.mlwhr.com) which provides a great venue with an array of farm animals, including rabbits, dogs, chickens, geese and a burro.

Kumari recalls her first visit to the Wild Mustang Rescue Center:
“The newest arrival Ms. Mara, a dark bay mustang mare stood off to the side, but facing us, shy, wary and a bit curious all at once. Not wanting to stare, I turned around, taking sideways glances when I thought she wasn’t looking. Her face, once pretty, was gruesome to look at…right between her eyes, she had a large protrusion of open flesh and bones that didn’t meet. I couldn’t imagine what she went through.

This one got to Diane Delana, the founder of the rescue center.  The trauma was just too much.  After sharing all of the mustangs’ sad sagas one by one, saving  Ms. Mara’s story for the end, she finally let go and softly sobbed…not just for Ms. Mara but for all of them.  For all of the callousness, brutality and inhumanity they suffered, often needlessly. A few short months ago this little beauty had been free, in a way few of us would ever know, free to roam and run and remind us of a wide open West that we all dream of, but rarely experience.  I  was in awe of Diane’s efforts, mostly dipping into her  own pocket and working 2 jobs, to rescue these proud but unfortunate wild mustangs who had been starved, neglected and sometimes brutalized when they come into man’s province.

Gently I started sending healing Reiki energy to Ms. Mara, telling her I meant no harm.  As Diane relayed details of her tragic roundup, and lack of medical attention, we noted Ms Mara began inching her way toward the fence we were leaning on.   Some of the fear was leaving her eyes.  She let out a few deep sighs, a sign she was relaxing, and releasing tension.

It was clear to me that she was special. Diane and Ms. Mara were brought together, perhaps to heal each other. Another mare came at the same time, but made no move toward us. Although she had not been injured physically, her rump said it all—I want no parts of humans…not now, not ever.  I relayed this message to Diane, as this mare made it clear that she would never be happy unless she was let free again.  Gratefully, a sanctuary later accepted her where she was free to roam in a herd, on many acres.

Ms Mara though had a deep curiosity, a deeply felt presence, that made me feel her purpose lay elsewhere.  She really did want to know and understand us.  And hopefully, forgive.  Diane agreed.  Now Mara was less than a few feet away.  Horses have an amazing ability to forgive, though it is not automatic.  Being an animal of prey they are highly sensitive to danger, and when man has been the source of their fear, it can take a very long time to win their trust again.  Mara was so close now I could feel her warm breath on my neck, taking us in by scent.  The energy I was sending was helping to dispel the fear, and her native curiosity was taking over.  This mare was special indeed.

In the short time she was at the rescue center, Ms Mara seemed to hold some promise of remaining as a “teacher”—one of the few mustangs that remained at the center to be used in demonstrations and lectures to educate people, especially children, about these proud symbols of freedom, about the  gentling process, and what is possible through good care and loving handling.  But first she needed to heal—both physically and emotionally.

Ms. Delano has been working with mustangs for many years now, explaining “spending time with mustangs is such an amazing gift…their spirit is so pure and open with humans.  This is the second year we are having Kumari teach, and her work is amazing.  The animals really do communicate on all levels! It has brought me back to the awe and wonder of childhood when we all believed in magic and miracles, and a utopian “peaceful kingdom”.  We have dogs, chickens, geese, rabbits, cats, donkeys and miniature horses, and of course the mustangs, and Kumari’s workshops have had a unifying effect on all of us.  I now see the depth to which the animals communicate with each other, and also the deep respect they show among different species.  Truly beautiful!  My awareness just keeps growing, becoming “universal”.

About the Presenter:
Kumari Mullin is a Reiki Master, Intuitive Healer, Attorney, Counselor and Animal Communicator.  She has been practicing and teaching intuitive and energy healing with animals and humans since 1991.  For the past 20 years she studied and lived with internationally acclaimed Meditation Masters, Reiki Masters and healers and also with interspecies telepathic communication pioneer Penelope Smith.  Kumari began riding at age 8, and her first love was an ex-race horse named Happy.  Her passion for unveiling the deeply spiritual connection between humans and animals evokes the mystical from the mundane.  Her clients and students include doctors, veterinarians, trainers, holistic practitioners, rescue organizations and zoos.
